As the Founder and Managing Director of Jeyie Foods, my goal is to revolutionize nutrition and well-being, not only within the confines of Chinama Village in Mangochi, Malawi, but also extending far beyond its borders. Jeyie Foods was established in 2019, driven by my personal experiences and a profound dedication to social entrepreneurship. My journey began with a resolute mission to tackle critical issues like food security, malnutrition, and economic empowerment head-on. Through Jeyie Foods, I have initiated impactful programs directly benefiting marginalized communities. By offering training in nutritious food production for both underprivileged children and their caregivers, empowering local women and youth farmers, and advocating for sustainable agricultural practices, I’ve championed comprehensive solutions to complex challenges. My initial inspiration sprang from a simple act of assisting my malnourished cousin in reclaiming his health through homemade peanut butter. This experience shed light on the pervasive issue of malnutrition within families, propelling me to establish the Jeyie Foods Community Project. Through this endeavor, I collaborate closely with women to produce life-saving food for malnourished children, thereby saving lives and enhancing overall health outcomes. As both a Mandela Washington Fellow and a graduate of Leading African Women in Food, I’ve leveraged my platforms to advocate for sustainable development and inspire others to join the battle against malnutrition. With aspirations transcending boundaries, I aim to catalyze global change by showcasing the transformative potential of grassroots initiatives. Fueled by a vision of a world where every individual has access to nutritious food and opportunities for a healthy life, I remain unwavering in my commitment to pushing boundaries, fostering partnerships, and effecting meaningful change in the sphere of nutrition and health
Jeyie Foods is a social enterprise on a mission to transform lives through nutrition. Founded in 2019 by Jacqueline Banda, the company addresses the critical issue of malnutrition in Malawi by producing high-quality, affordable, and nutritious food products. Our focus on empowering women and supporting local farmers sets us apart. At the heart of Jeyie Foods is a deep commitment to community development. By partnering with 178 women smallholder farmers, we’ve created a sustainable model that benefits both producers and consumers. Our training programs equip 816 women with the skills to produce nutritious foods for their families and generate income. Our flagship product, fortified porridge flour, is a cornerstone of our efforts to combat malnutrition. This versatile food provides essential nutrients for children and adults alike. By sourcing ingredients locally, we support rural economies and promote sustainable agriculture. Beyond nutrition, Jeyie Foods is dedicated to creating a positive social impact. We have established Village Savings and Loans groups to empower women financially and improve their livelihoods. Additionally, our commitment to environmental sustainability is evident in our efforts to promote agroforestry and reduce our carbon footprint. Looking ahead, Jeyie Foods aims to expand its reach, introduce new products, and strengthen partnerships. Our vision is to become a leading provider of nutritious food solutions in Malawi and beyond, while continuing to prioritize social impact and sustainability. We believe that by investing in Jeyie Foods, you are investing in the future of Malawi. Together, we can create a healthier, more prosperous nation
